Letter to TNC by the TNC Chair 9 Nov 2016

Dear TNC;

I realize its not wise to have me write to much without an editor but given the overwhelming concern in the TNC with last nights election results I think as TNC Chair I should at least comment.

First not all TNC members where for Hillary or Trump but we have members on both sides of the isle metaphorically and overwhelmingly we are on neither side.

As an organization I think it is clear from the board finding of fact recently that both of these were just terrible candidates as it relates to the TNC platform. So given that we have to live with Trump as the next President of the United States then what are the positive things we might consider coming out of the next four years. To me these are some of the possible benefits that give me ‘hope’.

1. There will be additional sociological pressure here and abroad to push towards a movement that embraces Transhumanism and our transhumanist platform. This potential is a tool we can use to grow the movement to a soundly more logical platform and stronger movement.

Ok, that was the only real positive point I could think of as it relates to the TNC but it is an absolutely critical one, it does imply what I’ve felt that it will come down to a less then positive relationship between the technological elite and the masses. I am more convinced then ever it will come to that and we need to stand up for whats right and what we as transhumanists believe.

What we need is to organize locally, we have a national framework, we have another conference we are planning in the Jan/feb time frame but it is these local movements drivin by local people in their areas that will create a real Transhumanist movement.

Let us preserve our rights, our support of the transhumanist declaration, the need for causation in policy making, addressing resilience and risk, the right to extreme longevity, basic education for everyone, UBI, Freedom of Self, more open intellectual property laws, and lastly a global movement.

Sincerely;
